So I'm driving to the gym this morning and the BRAKE light on my dash (the one that usually lights up when the e-brake is pulled) switches on.

It stays on for the length on my drive (about 10 minutes) but when I turned my car back on an hour later, everything is back to normal.

I have a well-maintained 2001 Hyundai Accent with about 104,000 miles. Can anyone tell me what the hell is going on?

You need your brakes serviced.

Your master cylinder low fluid switch is activating because your brakes are worn out.
