Is it more selfish to want to keep your hard earned money to take care of your family, or is it more selfish to take someone elses money to take care of your family?

Democrats keep saying Republicans are selfish, they don't care about kids. Is that a valid argument when Democrats want to take their money for the predominately democratic poor?

This is perfect for a series of questions I did a while back. Liberalism produces class envy, this is unarguable. Envy produces selfishness in that, they desire to take from one to give to another.

Liberals try to say conservatism produces greed. In reality conservatism enables the most free way to acquire wealth. What the person does with that wealth is up to them, conservatism does not dictate that they be greedy.

Additionally, it is a fact that conservatives give more time and money to charity than liberals.

Dems are more selfish. I care about kids and seniors and all that feel-good hippy stuff. But government is not the answer to every problem yet that is precisely the Dems answer every time.

Though GOP spending has been redonkulous during Bush's tenure, there are fiscal conservatives who are worth supporting...and fiscal conservatives think that your money is your business. Federal government should be limited and, in general, should provide the following:

- Military

...hmm...can't think of anything else. What else should government be in charge of that private citizens wouldn't do on their own?

Government should never be in charge of the following:

- Retirement plans (yes, I'm talking about social security...save your own money)

- Health care (it's such a mess now because health care is basically a government ball gargler...it's not competitive because of government interference).

- Education (this is supposed to be the State's job. Maybe the states would prefer to have all private schools! Why don't you let them decide?)

Very well put. However, In my opinion, I would have to look at the specific instance in each politician to see if their "overall" motives are selfish for the country. There are some Democrats that are good in heart and some Republican's that are good in heart as well. I don't think this can be stereotyped for this specific reason as your explanation says it all. Bottom line is even with our own cause, we are all human and have our own objective for our own purpose, selfish and unselfish. It is what we do for the good of the country when in politics that should matter... consistently! Hope this helps!

Wow, it really is the most baseless stereotyping i imagine i have ever considered in a unmarried Yahoo solutions politics question. i'm no longer even disenchanted. i'm in basic terms inspired. Do you extremely imagine the individuals who did not evacuate New Orleans were questioning "that is in basic terms the Republicans telling me what to do, i'm gonna stay the following!"? maximum individuals stayed in NO because they were too poor to do something else. that is confusing to evacuate a city once you do not have a automobile or discretionary income. also, there are a form of nationwide Guardsmen who are not Republican.

Statistics show a dramatic difference between charitable contributions between the parties. Republicans, especially Christians, give far more of their own money to the needy.

Democrats are willing to give to those less fortunate as long as it doesn't come out of their pocket.

Both parties want your money, Look at the current president, the only noticable people who got a tax break were the richest 1% in America. When it comes down to it, it is about which party will spend your money, Republicans kill people with it and give it private corperations such as haliburton or blackwater. Democrats want to give it back to the communities and social programs

Who asks more pointless, generalizing, time-wasting question? A Democrat or a Republican?

People are people. Some are selfish. Some are not. Try some constructive arguments.

There is nothing wrong with wanting to keep what you earn for the betterment of your family and there are other ways to give to the poor than being taxed to death. I personally would prefer to choose what organization I donate my money to in order to help those that have hit a rough spot or are unable to help themselves at the time, I am tired of government taking what I earn and doing what they please with it....I believe in the Fair Tax not an income tax...Than everyone would pay some taxes on what they spend not what they earn...By the way well said tnframig! Bottom Line as I see it keep you Damn hands out of my pocket, Let me chose who I want to take care of and no I am not rich and I do support charities...

Republicans are more charitable with their own money, as a recent study proved. Democrats are in favor of giving money to causes, just not their own.

PrincessM2531: If they gave money to 4 charities, they would add up the amount given to each charity. The total is still less. There are some very, very rich liberals (Soros) that give money to causes that better themselves or support their crazy socialist ideas (moveon.org, Media Matters), rather than actually benefit people who are temporarily down on their luck or improving the environment for example. America needs more personal responsibility and fewer handouts.

In 2000, Bush called his base 'the haves and the have-mores'. If you are not part of that 'elite' group & you are Republican, then that clearly makes you a brainwashed moron!
PS: I just love how some of you say it's a "fact" without submitting proof. Are we Just supposed to take your word for it? That would make us as stupid as you are.
