i once last summer while walking a a park watched a squirrel jump into a rubbish bin and pull something out. it was a chip. the squirrel perched on the bin and eat it.
this is the only thing I've ever seen them eat. some my answer is chips

Squirrels are rodents and therefore scavengers and will eat anything that comes to hand. Nuts, tree bark, bread, biscuits, seeds, pine cones.

nuts seeds fruit , they eat what they can we have a squirrel come to us every morning as there is always a rich tea biscuit waiting for him . he loves it bless him.

Nuts, fruit and seeds.

Squirrels bury a lot of acorns in the Autumn then can't remember where they buried them so the acorns grow into oak trees.

Nuts and berries mainly, but the one in my garden eats the chocolate chips from cookies :D

Mostly nuts, fruit and seeds, but it will eat bird eggs, insects and animal carcasses if there's no other food around.

depends on the age but, not just nuts. They have been known to eat small insects as well.

nuts and anything in the forrest. they also eat out of the trash can. they destroyd an old bird feeder
