If so, what are you doing and how did you find it?

I retired in July 2000 with enough money, I thought, to see me through until I no longer needed money... or anything else.

I have started working part time because my living expenses have nearly DOUBLED IN THE PAST 7 YEARS... and my standard of living has NOT changed.

I don't care what the politicians say... the cost of living has gone up MORE than 40 percent in the past 5 years...

The REAL insult is how Social Security goes up a mere $20 or so a month each year and then Medicare goes up $45 per month, wiping out any gains... the then the politicians tell me how great things are.

I don't work full time, but I DO have to work part time just to buy groceries.

Yes, my husband is. Retired after 30 yrs. with the airlines...and after the effects of 9/11. Things were very shaky for so long, and with so many companies on the brink of going under, he took the early retirement. First he sat kicked back and relaxed for a while, and then did little part time jobs to keep busy and for the money. About 2 months ago he got a call from the airport itself and was offered a position. He's an easy-going guy, has a great work ethic and was well liked.....and they remembered that. Best part, if he stays for 5 years he'll get another retirement, plus the health insurance is more affordable than what we had before.

What's retirement? I already "retired" once, but, I missed the extra money too much, so I went back to work. I missed my co-workers, too. They are more like my family than my family. I do miss being able to take classes and do things during the day that I can't right now because I work. I have a great part time job at an executive recruiting firm.

I'm not retired yet but most likely what I will do if I work is to create my own job. I would like to open an upscale "cat kennel" and board cats in a nice atmosphere where the cats would be pampered and receive a lot of attention. I might even have a web cam where the owners could log in and view their babies while they are away. I wouldn't make a lot but it would sort of be a half hobby/half income supplement that I would really enjoy.

I plan on working after I retire (about 5 years at 55) from my present job. I am studying Lutherie (guitar building) and I am getting the tools I will need for guitar repair . I am trying to set myself up now for when the time comes it will be a smooth transition into doing something I enjoy

I call myself "semi-retired" because I can't afford to be totally retired but can't handle a full time job any more. Taught for about 25 years, all ages and levels from preschool to college including master's degree students in education, and kids who were in a residential psych facility. Now I'm a part-time reading specialist at a non-profit educational organization. This organization was founded by a friend of a friend and sort of landed in my lap without going out of my way to get it.

I took early retirement from my job so I could babysit a newborn grandchild. I don't receive a wage for babysitting but I LOVE taking care of grandchild.

I also work part-time doing on-line sales for a local pawn shop. I didn't go find this job, it found me. The owner was an acquaintance of my relatives.

I retired from my school job in June. I worked with needy special ed kids in the local school system. I love the free
time I have. I am working now at Michaels teaching knitting and crochet. I found this job through a friend. I love it and only work weekends.

Retirement!@#* What is that? I'll be working until they kick me out the door. I'm a flight attendant for a major airline and I found it by just going to the local "cattle call" I mean interview.
It doesn't pay very well but it does allow for a lot of flexibility in your schedule. Best of luck to you!
