In Scandinavia it is pronounced Yo a kim (long o, short a and i). The younger son of the Queen of Denmark's name is Joachim.

Apparently it depends on the nationality of the person. For my German grandfather it was:

Yo-a'-him, where the h is of the German, throat-clearing variety

I can't believe some have said that is not the "correct" spelling. The origin of the name is Hebrew. If anything Joaquin is the Spanish knock-off of Joachim, not vice-versa.

You can either pronounce it one of two ways -

Joachim = Jo - Kim

or

Joachim - Wah - Keem

It's a version of the name Joaquin, but it is a name in it's own right. (That's just for all the folks who are saying that it is supposed to be Joaquin.)
I have heard it pronounced YO kim, in addition to the other suggestions here.
