That indicates the circuit to the air bag it's self has a fault and will NOT deploy in the event of an accident.
There is no possibility of it going off on it's own, it just won't work....
There is a "clock spring" inside the steering wheel that goes out over time due to contant turning of the steering wheel and it more than likely needs replacement.
It's a little pricey to replace as the steeriing wheel needs to be removed.

Maybe the airbag is faulty. Just a thought. Get it into the garage to have it looked at. Airbag tastes nicer than dashboard and windscreen.

It's something a dealer would have to look at. I'm not sure if many independent shops would get into something like that. Usually if you don't have anything to save the memory of the ecu when you take out a battery that can cause things like that to happen as well.

That 2.0L engine is what I rather have in my New Beetle. this is totally solid, sturdy and long-lasting. Like a affected person little donkey, you could pile stuff on its back and it will save going. The 2001 ought to burn fairly oil between adjustments, yet to not difficulty, purely upload somewhat each and every time this is low. make useful there is not any substantial upkeep products due ideal now. the main serious products in this automobile, to maintain it going virtually invariably, are the timing belt and water pump. that would desire to be bobbing up at 60,000 miles.

Once had a similar light on a Saab.
Told me "SRS" faulty.
Main dealer told me, after they had plugged into a box of tricks and charged me £200.
Because I had changed the battery, this had caused a glitch in the electronics, which resulted in the warning light.
There was in fact nothing wrong with it

Hi
The first thing to do is to simply have the airbag light reset and then see if it comes back on.
Very best regards

in indicate the air bag system has a fault. you need a scan tool (cost about 5000.00) to access the code. once you find the code, you need to find out what cause that circuit malfunction
