Phantom of the Opera!!!!!! I love the musical, I love the movie! There were certain things that they did in the movie version that I don't agree with, being a HUGE Phantom fan, but I thought it was amazing!! Love it, love it!

I do like Moulin Rouge, but not nearly as much as Phantom.

Moulin Rouge (1952) with José Ferrer as Toulouse-Lautrec was a great film. Although a fictional account of French artist it was a great film.
After seeing Phantom of the Opera twice on stage the movie was a let down. How could you beat the chandler over your head go crashing to the stage. Movies can't do that. The second time we went to see it we took our nine year old grandson and he loved it. Maybe the movie would be better on my 52' wide screen in HD.
But I have to say Moulin Rouge is a better movie.

Definately, Phantom Of the Opera. Extremely Intense and wonderful performance by the lead cast. Fantastic production value and haunting music. Leagues ahead of Moulin rogue.

Phantom of the Opera. When I watched Moulin Rouge, I spent more time criticizing how there was no place LIKE where the action was taking place... They even had the Moulin Rouge on the wrong side of the street.

Besides that... I really like Andrew Lloyd Weber.

If your a typical teenaged girl, then yes. You'll enjoy it. If you are already a serious fan of the musical and the original novel (or any of the other phantom movies - I assume you're asking about the 2004 movie with Gerard Butler and Emmy Rossum), then you probably won't enjoy it. Most of the older "phans" agree that this version really sexed it up and made the Phantom HAWT, which rather ruins the story. Still, a good number of younger fans thought it was fabulous, so it's worth a viewing.

Hands down Phantom of the Opera.
Moulin Rouge was more colorful, which I love.
Phantom of the Opera has a more dark Romance and art to it.
LOVE IT!
