A coworker's daughter is doing an assignment where she has to ask her relatives and friends if they boycott any companies and why. She has to just list the reasons.

This got me wondering how many people out there actually do boycott companies. So I asked around at work and was surprised at the number of people who crab & moan about things being made in China, companies that test on animals, etc. but don't boycott the products - they see a bargain, they buy it. If you do that, don't crab then.

I watch the list of companies that test on animals & don't buy from them. I do not buy French wines or German chocolate. I don't shop at Target or Starbucks and have started to really watch my labels on clothes and other items. I've put down a lot of items in the last month that were made in China. Amazing how much stuff is made there. I know there is a lot that we cannot detect from the label but I'm going to do the best I can by not buying these items.

Hershey is out too.

Hershey is closing quite a few of their locations and moving them to Mexico to save on labor costs. Over 1,000 will lose their jobs. I received an e-mail of a letter from an ex-employee of 35 years. He was quite upset because Mr. Hershey made the all American candy bar. I checked it out, and it is true. He was saying that if Mexico wants the jobs, then they can buy the product as well. I agree.

Why is Hershey out? I've never heard a reason to boycott them...

I boycott Wendy's because my Uncle used to work for them until they downsized and cut him. My Uncle was cut by his own relatives! I don't eat there anymore.

I don't buy Heinz catsup anymore. I stopped buying it during the last election and discovered that the house brand tastes just fine so I haven't gone back to buying Heinz.

I guess it wouldn't really be boycotting but I don't go to WalMart cause I hate the store. But I gotta ask: what's wrong with Hershey? You do mean the candy, right?

I boycott a few because of their advertising. Geico insurance and Taco Bell, hate their commercials.
