No tin foil suggestions please!

Thus far, I have a chain mail shirt (real chain mail!), which is short sleeved and a hefty wooden sword. What else could I add to it to make it real good?

You can make a helmet and add a feathered plume. I did this for my 6-yr-old son. The directions called for cardboard. I made it out of grey fun-foam, thinking it would be softer & safer, but it was too hot.

Here's the pattern I used:

Try making a wooden sheild and paint it and your sword. Also try making a helmet made of cardboard and for your feet try buying boots and paint it in silver.
