I travel by bus! It's a pain in the behind! I have an hour each way journey and some days it can be a total trauma!
How people (including the government) can sit their and recomend leaving cars at home and using public transport is beyond me! It is a great idea in terms of helping the enviroment etc but before this can happen there needs to be a public transport system in place that actually functions efficiently! I doubt this is something I will ever see in my lifetime and maybe even my grand children will noever get to see this happen. It truely would take a miracle!

I have to go to work by car as my workplace is about 10-15 miles away. Yes I get angry when told to leave my car at home because if I did that it would take about 3 hours to get to work by public transport. It is not clean or reliable enough.

I drive to work each day. There isn't any public transportation in the area where I live and work and the commute is about 15 miles each way.
I don't get angry when people suggest leaving my car at home but I do think people who live in cities don't understand that public transportation isn't available to everyone.

I would leave my car at home if I didn't work 6 miles from home and their was public transport at 05.30 in the morning which is when I'd need to use it. We get one train per hour, not starting til 6.30 and one bus a week going in the opposite direction!!

I use my car which takes about 25 minutes each way, public transport would take 2 to 3 hours each way.

I get the bus in the week, but when I work saturdays I have to walk to work as the buses don't start running until after I have to be at work, (it's roughly 2 miles each way). If I could afford a car I would drive!

I travel to work by car. No one has told me that, because where I work is not accessible by public transportation.

In order to answer or to give an answer, I feel that the
question would have to be "framed" in a little more
defined manner. The how many would relate to the
type of work - office/clerical, or professional where the
work location is a single location. Also, is the "work" -a
type that requires multiple contacts with clients at a wide
range of geographical locations. Further, is public transport
available? Sometimes, a combination of both is the choice
- consequently are these "folk" counted as "both"? KY/USA
