I will be 19 in December and I was wondering when I should start to see an OB/GYN. My family has history of breast and cervical cancer I dont know when I should start to take a step towards beginning to get tests and such. I have already gotten the HPV shot but that's all.

You should have already seen one. It is wise to start seeing one once you start your period.

Make an appointment with a highly recommended OB/GYN for as soon as possible. Talk to other women in your family or friends and see who they go to. Having an OB/GYN that is good is just as important as having a yearly exam. If they are good-they catch things quicker than others-and you definitely want that if you have a family history of cervical/breast cancer. Start going yearly from now on, since you should have been going since you were either sexually active or when you turned 18.

You should start going to an OB/GYN when you're 18 or when you become sexually active, whichever comes first. Going there can be scary, so you might want your mom or a friend to go to the office with you. It's really not that bad, though. Worrying about it is more stress than the actual exam.

You should go to see an OB/GYN the first time you get your period. You should have annual PAP Smears and breast exams. Most doctors insist on doing breast exams every PAP Smear... So you shouldn't have to make a seperate appointment for that. The PAP will test for cervical concerns.

I can't believe you are 19 and haven't seen an OB/GYN yet. You should've been seeing one for atleast the past 5 years for regular annual check ups. Go. Now.

You need to start getting a yearly pap smear. You should have started going by age 18 every year or whenever you became sexually active - whichever came first. Ask other women you know about the dr. they go to and get a recommendation from them. Then make an appointment and go. Good luck!

You should see a OB/GYN once you become sexually active. Prior to sexual acitivity, I would say 21 or earlier. The earlier problems are detected, the better.

Go as soon as you can and then at regular intervals. It is always better to be safe than sorry.
