It thumps really loud and shakes the car as its moving, no idea what it could be or if its dangerous to drive.

Sounds like a lost tooth in the differential to me.

Just keep driving it and you will find the problem... or... more exactly... IT will find YOU... and, before you know it... you will be sitting on the side of the road.

HAVE IT LOOKED AT... nobody on Answers can tell you what the problem is because you didn't even bother to say WHAT KIND OF A CAR IT IS... and it's impossible to give an answer when the person asking it does NOT GIVE ENOUGH INFORMATION.

Check your tires to see if there's a bubble in the tread. The tread might be coming apart from the tire casing.

~~~Frank P~~~has the same idea as I, ith could very well be one of or more Tires, have them checked after you explaine the trouble you are having.

You migh also have a suspension part that has failed and causing this...get it checked!
