From the original race back in the late 1960s to the present, the Flash has been represented as the faster of the two. While Superman is fast, he cannot access the Speed Force, which most of the DC speedsters utilize.

Even before the invention of the Speed Force as a plot device, the Silver Age Flash was shown to be able to approach near light speed, and in the case of 'Crisis of Infinite Earths', surpassed light speed when Barry Allen caught the tachyon particle in the Anti-Monitor's cannon.

Effectively, while Superman is fast, he's not faster than the Flash.

Well, when you think of superheroes, speed should not be the only consideration. The overall contribution to society should be the controlling factor. While the Flash has been a positive influence, I think without question Superman has had a lasting effect on society and has in fact continued to renew that effect for generations of people. So while the Flash may be faster, Superman's influence and staying power makes him the greatest superhero of all time.

C-Nice44 has it right. By using the Speed Force, the other-dimensional power source of Flash's speed and energy, not only can he travel at the speed of light, he has also traveled faster than the speed of light by using a "time treadmill". C-Nice 44 also mentioned stealing Superman's speed, and this is something The Flash can do to anyone, even inanimate objects. Also, when Superman "runs", he ends up flying anyway, so it's The Flash by a longshot! Best Answer needs to go to C-Nice44.

The Flash because what's the point of being called the Fastest Man Alive if there's someone better than him? Anyway, the Flash is able to tap into the speed force which Superman cannot do.

Also in two episodes of Smallville, it was proven that Bart Allen is faster than Clark Kent.

Flash is the faster of the two normaly but since Flash can lend or barrow speed from others he might be able to make Superman faster than him for a short time. Flash can reach the speed of light and beyond due to the speed force Superman in the current DC universe is limited to 99+% the speed of light but can not quiet reach the speed of light.

The Flash

They had a race once . At the request from the Guardians of the Universe (of the Green Lantern Corps) for both of them to move at near speed of light across the universe (since the two are the only beings who can do this) so they can counteract the effect of some beings who are also moving across the universe close to the speed of light.
They sort of "made a race of it" and... to cut the long story short, the Flash won.

I read that very story in the comic. Unfortunately, this was over 30 years ago and that comic is lost, else I can send you the story.

Hope this settled the argument once and for all.

The Flash is. They both race head2head and Flash is always inches ahead of Superman. If it was Superman Blue then it would be a tie since both powers are electricly based.

Flash...

There's an issue in the comics called Kingdom Come(from DC comics) that showed how fast the flash was picture a comic box of a city on top view and you see every street corner has color red lines like lights of street cars but actually if you look closer it's Flash. The narrator of that comic says he protects the streets something like that...

Love the artwork of Kingdome Come hope you check it... It's a limited comic book all done by painting!

The Flash. He can move so fast that he rearranges his molecules. Although Superman is fast too, he's just not as fast as The Flash.
