One important issue (breast health if their mom died of breast cancer, etc) is okay...but when someone you know is crusading for every cause under the sun, don't you just wonder if they're doing it to get attention?

Yes. I don't like it so much when people abandon one good cause to go to another. How much help can that be?

I believe I know what you mean, but I have several issues about which I am pretty passionate. I don't go around bringing up the topics, but they are things that are very important to me, and I will discuss them at length with anyone who gives me a chance.

Some of them do annoy me, though, I will grant you. For example, a whole month of pink everywhere, the supermarket exploiting the whole pink ribbon thing to show how compassionate they are, all of that, makes it sound like the only important organ that gets cancer is the breast. Actually, cancer happens throughout the body, and what's really needed is more research into the general mechanisms of cancer, to eliminate all kinds, not just breasts. But because breast cancer is almost always in women, it gets more publicity. (And because a healthy breast is, after all, a thing of beauty.)

Yes, it drives a part of me crazy when someone has a cause or a crusade ALL the time. The self-centered part of me is not "the real me".

God loves you, and so do I. If you crusade for something, part of me says "I'm tired", but my better nature respects your opinion.

Do I detect that you lost someone who died of cancer. May I offer my condolences dear.

It seems we all are touched by the "c" word. In America cancer deaths, every single day, equals all those terror deaths on "9 -11".

Cancer is a "September 11 disaster" every day, as God gives the day!!!

This summer my younger brother Al died of cancer, which also took our mom.

I've tried to encourage Al's childless widow Lisa to get involved in SOMETHING to give her a reason to get out of bed in the morning.

Her answer is "everyone is pushing me". And see stays in bed.

When you are mourning a death, look to the needs of the living!!! We are all His children, brothers and sisters.

When you help some one, you feel better.

We are His hand extended to others, until He returns!

You have a good point..I don't think there doing it to "Get attention"...but most "Like Celebrities" do it to get it the Lime light" to get attention, and therefore you are absolutely correct".
While others make it a part of there life to help gain study s, and funds for things such as Multiple sclerosis, ALS, Breast Cancer awareness, yes, there are many out there, who grab out of a bag, something to "Get attention for" instead of really caring about the disease, or circumstance". I really agree with you!

Everyone has different priorities when it comes to causes depending on their lifestyle and circumstances which affects what they will choose to pursue. One cause is not more important than another because of that reason---so we might be inclined to also choose to support things that are simliar to our main cause and it adds up.

For example if I supported women's rights I might think that it would make sense to also support minority rights and religious rights and gay rights...etc. because I have the main idea that every one deserves respect and therefore I would be very active if I was motivated and I think thats ok.

Yeah a bit - unless I know that they really have got a reason. I would list the reasons but then it would sound as if I'm making a stand against this question and have made it my mission in life to make people aware of the facts =D

It depends on what they are doing for the cause. Are they causing havoc for other people, being violent in rallies etc. Yes, I would find that annoying. There are too many people who turn a peaceful rally into mayhem and ruin it for everyone else. I won't go to a rally for that reason.

Or maybe they have invested money in a certain stock. Crusading would cause people to notice and purchase that product.

I hate the fact that I have to do laundry all the time. Why does my family feel the need to have clean clothes every single freakin' day? Just kidding. Yes. I agree with you. I am all for supporting causes, but to have one to fit every mood...come on.

Sounds like you're crusading for the anti-crusaders!
