Oh, yes, what a wonderful question. I loved those old Westerns. My dad and I used to watch them together on Saturdays, some must have been in reruns. Sky King was definitely one of the best, it was not only a Western, but they caught criminals too. So it was also kind of a detective show, which I think are great.
Bonanza, Wagon Train, and Big Valley were some other good ones. I always had a crush on Hoss Cartwright! lol

My good friend came by to visit last night and we watched the Roy Rogers TV series. I sometimes see an old cowboy movie on late night TV but watching the old series was a treat. I also like the Sons of Will Sonnet with Walter Brennan, Death Valley Days, Buffalo Bill Jr., The Rebel, Branded, The Life and Legend of Wyatt Earp, and Have Gun-Will Travel to name a few. Anybody remember the short lived TV series with Jack Lord called Stoney Burke, I do.

I had a major crush on Rex Allan, and he was such a good singer. I know he did a lot of narrating for Disney
another favourite was Audie Murphy. He was a living WWII hero that went into acting.
Don't forget Lash La Rue. He sure could knock the bad guys down with a flick of that whip. He looked so handsome in his all black outfit.
Here is a link for the young uns who didn't know Audie Murphy was more than an actor .

...and don't forget Hoby Gilman the bounty hunter, Steve McQueen's first success--"Wanted Dead or Alive"--[p.s. the series is available on DVD]. Oh yes, how 'bout Richard Boone and "Have Gun Will Travel"? That was a classy show with a classy actor...[also available as a DVD series boxed set] Like many in here, I loved the Virginian and Big Valley - somehow the people were folks you liked and keeping up with their adventures was sort of like family, almost! "Rawhide" was fun...but dear Clint was almost tooooo pretty in those days, right? That gorgeous sculptured hair, f'rinstance...bit much. I prefer gnarlies myself...Boone!

I still remember my fifth birthday party. It was A Hopalong Cassidy theme. You never heard bad things about those actors.
