Several that I know from my school days. The french teacher had a chair thrown at her (it missed thankfully), she locked herself in a cupboard and wouldn't come out until everyone had gone. She no longer teaches school children but I believe she teaches adult evening classes now instead.
I used to be a horrid kid, instead of being violent and uncontrollable, I was precocious and sarcastic, which one of my teachers (I found out a couple of years ago when I bumped into her at the local supermarket) said she found infinitely more difficult to deal with as she sometimes couldn't tell for sure whether I was being a horrid little **** or not.
Bless 'em, teachers have a rough time.

Not in my school but it wouldn't suprise me if it happens more these days. Schools are becoming a nightmare. Teachers are so under pressure and have near to NO CONTROL over the kids as the government have become so strict (to a ridiculous degree) with what you can and can't say to a kid etc. Eventually the entire education system will break down.

This is terrible, haha.
One of my other High school class locked their Math teacher outta the class and he was exasperated.
After he managed to get into the class (master key, I think), the students went to lock the OHP (some audio visual device to flash slides and lecture notes on the screen) and made a huge din in class that caused him to cry!
A few months after that incident, he reportly resigned (but I'm guessing he switched schools, someone saw him in a college as a lecturer!)
It's really hilarious but I guess they went too far on that prank!!

Yes, when I was in public school, our teacher broke down, walked out of the school, and never came back.

yes we had one who put up with quite alot from us. im actually now surprised he didn't leave sooner.. we used do alot of sneaky things to wind him up.. the best/most annoying was.... he used to stand up to give the class and always leant against the same wall day in day out. the area he leant against we covered with superglue luckily he leant against it quite soon after we done it otherwise it wouldn't have worked. it was quite funny watching him get half naked after getting his jacket stuck to the wall then his shirt after he managed to get out of the blazer.. i wonder if he thinks about it and laughs?

yes its hard to teach when you know kids are tired of listening to you. all they have to do is find a new strategy of teaching. to get everyones attention. and she may have had a better offer and decided not to give a notice.
