Well, my hubby has slacked off a bit. I probably am due for two right now. He won't let me do it. It's a man thing.
But I am guilty of not always changing my oil till I hear rods knocking, or the idiot light comes on. Then I might just add oil till I can get it changed.
Until just recently I lived somewhere where it was against city code to work on any vehicle on any property that you didn't own. I rented. I was changing my brake pads, and a cop came by. He did give me a waring, but he said depending on what I am doing I could be fined up to $500. That also includes working on a vehicle that is yours at your home.

Pushing 30,000 miles since the last one. Just make sure there is oil in the pan by checking the dipstick. Yes, it creates sludge and isn't wonderful for the engine but I'm not keeping the car forever and I don't care. Without any oil, the engine will eventually sieze and be rendered useless. If you have a really nice car an oil change every 2-3000 miles is good, but every 5 - 10,000 miles is perfectly healthy for a "not so special" car. They are just trying to push more oil and make more money off of you by saying you need one every 2000 miles.

I always go waaay too long. If I got them at 3000 miles, I'd be getting oil changes monthly. My best guess for longest is 9 months. I terrible about getting brakes fixed too. I once let it go until it made a grinding noise.

Not yet - not due for 1000 miles. I try to keep up on oil changes, because I don't know anything about cars.

I need an oil change now. It's been a year. I haven't driven very much in the past year say only 5,000 miles but still I'm late.

Most engines are fine with 5,000 miles between oil changes; I've never had a problem as long as I actually *get* them. I did destroy a car by continually forgetting, however.

no I'm not, I've got 1800 miles to go before I need one ...
as for the longest I've gone without one - well, I take pretty good care of my car.
I change the oil every 3000 miles.

Ok, I'll reluctantly admit this. Years ago when I was younger, more foolish, and honestly didn't care about a car, I went....well, lets just say I owned the care for 2 years, driving daily, never changed it. Nowadays, I'm much more vigilant.

Nope, my hubby just changed the oil in my Jeep a couple of weeks ago. The truck might need one but it's not way overdue, I'd better check that out (it's a diesel so we take it in).
