The answers is yes....and unless you feel like slamming a high dollar car into a wall, tree, another car, etc I wouldn't recommend doing it.

Drift cars are ALL custom built, the suspension, the brakes, the steering, and most importantly the tires. The weight is distributed properly, roll cages are often installed. If you attempt to drift your fathers Mercedes...even once, there's a good chance you'll break a tie rod, bust a tire, burn up the brakes, etc.

All this in addition to the car will probably not allow you to make such a manuever. If it's a newer Mercedes the drive control, brake control, and traction control will not allow you to attempt the moves in question. It will assume you're about the wreck the car, cut off the gas, apply the brakes, etc...basically take control from you for the better.

If you're truly interested in drifting, work hard, find a good base car (old Nissan Z perhaps) and upgrade it as you can. Get proper experience and training and you'll be blasting through sets of tires in no time.

Hope this helps you make the right decision.

you need to see the pictures of the 17 yr old that took
Dad's new million $ Ferrari out -

when it was totaled - the car had 9 miles on the odometer
the last mile was after the engine had been separated
from the vehicle by a telephone pole that was hit at over 250
mph

by the way - the new replacement will be here in 2 years

Q. Will son be allowed to look at the car when it arrives?
from how many counties away??

If your dad finds out, he'll take away your driving privileges for a long, long time, and/or he'll kick your butt (I'd do both). That's rough on the car and tires.

Buy your own car to abuse, not your fathers.
