What I tell most of the students I tutor is: Math is not hard....IF you can remember all the steps. So get ready for a few steps. We start with the number we know: 48.
48
We know the puppy's weight INCREASED...or went up. So what operation do you think that represents? ADDITION:
48 + ___ = ____
What goes in the second blank? 22% OF something, right? Even though the word "of" is not there, it's implied....22% OF the original 48 ounces. In math, "of" represents multiplication. So it's 22 x 48.....which is 1056. But we want to turn a percent into a regular number by brining the decimal point back two spaces. It was at the end....1056. Move it back so it becomes 10.56. So now we know the second number:
48 + 10.56
and now we add:
48
10.56
Remember when you work with decimals, add enough zeroes so that both numbers have the same number of digits:
48.00
10.56
Answer: 58.56

Ok here's what you do.
The puppy weighed 48 ounces, and he gained 22% more in the next month. So you need to find out how much 22% of 48 ounces is.
So you multiply 48 by 22% (or 48 x .22)
that equals 10.56.
So, you add 10.56 to what the puppy already weighed, or 48 ounces. And if you add 10.56 and 48 together, you get...
I'll let you do that part yourself... but you get the idea!
Cheers

48 x .22 = 10.56
48+10.56 = 58.56
So at 4 months the puppy weighs 58.56 ounces.

I got 90.24. I'm not really sure if that is right, beacuse basically I multiplied 48 by .22 which I got 10.56. So I added that to 48 four times which would be the weight for the baby after 4 months.

I got 58.56 ounces
First you figure out what 22% is in decimal form. Which you just move the point at the end so its .22
Then multiply - 48 x .22 which equals 10.56
Add 10.56 to 48 and you get 58.56

okay simple ...
48 * 0.22 = 10.56
48 + 10.56 = 58.56
58.56*0.22= 12.89
58.56 + 12.89 = 71.45
71.45*0.22= 15.72
71.45+15.72 = 87.17
87.17*0.22 = 19.18
87.17+19.18= 106.35
Ur answer is 106.35 ... Ur welcome :)
