I need this information to check that I am paying the correct council tax, we are currently in band C for a two bedroomed terrace house.

You could go to the library and check out the real estate section of newspapers from 1991 to see what houses were selling for in that neighborhood.

The public tax records for your property should show a taxable value for your property in 1991. This taxable value is usually lower than the actual market value. It would be a good general estimate, but if you needed something more precise you would probably need to go to a real estate broker or agent and ask them if they have any general rule of thumb for how much higher the actual market value of property would be as compared to its taxable value, especially in the early 90's in your particular community.

If you have an auditor in your area for real estate you can try looking up your property address. It'll tell you info about all the transactions on your home. Previous and current. It sometimes has a picture and everything. :) Hope this helps! Good luck!

The Nationwide have a site which will calculate its worth in 1991. I think it is just www.nationwide.co.uk then look for the house price calculator.
