I have to pretend to for a school play. (Upper school so sorta important). He's a guy I've known since primary school and he's nice and all that but it's just I've never kissed a guy for real so feel really awkward in our scene where i have to pull him around so he's blocking the audiences view and put my face really close to his, so it looks like we kissed.

I feel really awkward and I duno don't mind doing the scene, just wish I knew a way to make it look natural and mmake myself feel normal about. (and really kissing him is out of the question)

Any tips or advice greatly appreciated :)

Okay first of all it isn't really you kissing him. It is the character. Separate reality from fiction here. You are just playing a part. Yes, it is a little nerve racking at first, but the more you rehearse it the more comfortable you will become. I am sure he feels the same way. Go over the scene, carefully work on the dialog that leads up to the moment that the kiss is supposed to happen. Ask the director if the three of you can work on the scene before or after normal rehearsal hours so that you will become more comfortable.

You don't have to kiss for real. Using the body placement and your arms around his body will create the effect that you are kissing. Or even putting your hands on his face might do the trick too.

Try watching some kissing scenes in movies or pay attention to couples in public too. Study their movement and body language.

And try to relax. If you do the scene enough these anxious feelings will disappear.

Had to do this for the show "Grease", I was 26, playing the DJ at the dance, the girl I was suppossed to "kiss" was only 16 and quite religious, so I'd turn her around, we'd get in tight cheek to cheek and rubbed cheeks a little....even her boyfriend insisted we really kissed...I also had to demonstrate to her parents watching from both sides! They approved. Also, you shouldn't have to do anything you are not comfortable doing.

Talk to the director about this and ask him or her to work on it with the two of you. It is the director's job to teach you actors how to do a "stage kiss." Develop a sense of humor about it and laugh about it, it is after all a source of humor when we are awkward in any king of boy-girl relationship.

You're an actress. You're portraying a character, Its your character who is 'kissing him', not you.
