I am so unbelievably terrified. I've had a sudden increase in vaginal discharge -- it's yellowish, thin, and heavy. It doesn't smell TOO bad (a little fishy, but not really), but it is heavy and yellowish and I've noticed it in the past week or so. The last time I had sex was also about a week ago, and my period isn't due for another week and a half. Or so.

Please offer any advice you may have. I have a doctor's appointment scheduled Tuesday morning, but I'm really, really freaking out. When I called and the nurse ran through a lot of symptoms with me, she didn't seem too concerned but scheduled me an appointment to test for infection. I've researched bacterial vaginosis, but there are so many blurbs on Answers that say increased discharge is also associated with pregnancy. I am on the NuvaRing, and have been for nearly a year without many problems. I am so absolutely terrified - please please help me

It does sound like a bad infection, or an std. Call the office and see if they have any cancellations and to call you if they have any before Tuesday.
If you cannot get in you can go to the drugstore and pick up a test kit for vaginal infections from Vagasil. Then you will know what infection you have or at very least rule out std's and pregnancy. Then you can pick up a pregnancy test just to rule that out as well.
Put your mind to ease if in fact you cannot get in until Tuesday. Heavy discharge is a sign of many different things, best to be treated by a doctor, but your local Pharmacy has ways to put your mind at ease while you wait.

Best Wishes!

It sounds like an infection to me. Where it's yellow I doubt it's a yeast infection. It could be bacterial or possibly an std. It's good your going to see the doctor. In the meantime I would just wear pantyliners and change often. Try not to worry about it too much as there is really nothing you can do until you find out what is going on. I'm sure it is something that will clear up in no time once you get the right treatment.

A sign of Yellowish, or Green dishcarge is a sign of an STD, you need tio go to the Doctor like yesterday, the longer you put this off the worse it may be for you later in life by causing other problems.

Your question is insufficient to get a correct answer. Does your private parts itch?? If it does, sounds more like a fungal infection.Get a sensitive wash, and wash twice daily with it and water. Then get your self a candidiasis insert tablets. Insert in vagina 1 every ngt for 3 ngts. Make sure no sexual activity after inserting!!Then also take Nizoral(Ketokenozole) 1 tablet every ngt(its causes drowsiness) for 7 ngts.Good Luck.
