My friend who is a girl started taking the pill and due to the hormone change in her bloodstream she now has dark circles under her eyes. She has only been on the pill for a little while. Will her body adapt to the hormone change and will the dark circles clear up in time or will she have to constantly use concealer?

Dear Person,

If your friend is taking a pill and she has dark circles and someone is worried, she should go and talk to her doctor about it. It is easy, she goes, tells the doctor, he tells her if it has anything to do with the pill or not.
Doctors are there to help, you just need to go and ask for that help.
Tell her to go to sleep and drink plenty of water. (1 liter for every 22 kg of weight) this might save the need for using concealer.

Why worry?

I've never heard of getting dark circles from the pill before. But there are many different side effects, like mood swings and weight gain. Generally you have to try out several different types of pill till you find one that suits you, I went through 4 types, before getting an Implanon rod instead. I would suggest that she speaks to her doctor and maybe see about changing the type of pill she's on.

It could be she is anemic, but she should see the doctor for confirmation rather than guessing. It's not a common side effect so I would see her doctor who can run some blood tests to see if anemia is the cause. If not it might be something else, but it's better to report it to the doctor.

the pill can cause low iron in your blood...tell her to take a supplement and they(dark circles) should dissappear within a few days.

Its better that she keeps herself well hydrated. Use cucumber slices on both eyes closed daily for 2 hours and that will cure the problem in many cases.
