People keep saying "dat" in my answers, here is an example from another question:

"tell him dat ur scared "

I might be wrong but I thought the word was "that".

I know I probably sound pompous, but come on, that is just lazy!

K B - I can't believe that question! I have written a suitable response.

The spelling and grammar on this board is atrocious. Yes I may be an English snob but bad spelling and grammar (if you are not dyslexic of course) is down to ignorance, laziness and abbreviating in text messages. It makes people look like idiots (especially on Answers) and is starting to affect the way people talk. Illiteracy is a real problem in the UK from my experience. It tends to be a good measure of low IQ also.

Scary to think the The Sun newspaper is the most widely read daily in the country. It has the reading age of about 6.

Text language for that.
I agree it seems a little lazy.
I use some txt frazes, but mostly
I write the whole word.
I get the occasional text messege from my 30 something year old sister;;" How r u? We might come round in da weekend. Is dat alright? She isn't the best at written english anyway, and add some text shorthand and then who needs to know how to spell anyway!!
To some people it matters and to others it doesn't. We all view it differently.

Here in London it's the common way of saying 'that'. It used to be the case about 30 years ago that we said 'vat' but now its 'dat'.

The final lettr 't' in the word 'dat' is silent and sounds more like 'dah' - the 'a' as in dad.

What a wonderful question. Religion is, of course, the form that one's worship takes. Thus there are thousands of forms. Religion includes a system of religious beliefs and practices. The object of the religion may be false gods or the true God. Hence, there is false religion and there is true. Religion can get very fancy or remain simple. In the former case, such as it is today. In the latter case, such as it was in the Garden of Eden. What then is worship to me? How do I worship? To worship means to obey. And to obey means to worship. The two are intimately connected; indeed, they are coterminous and cannot be separated. Specifically, to obey the Sovereign Lord God Jehovah of Armies is to worship Him. I do my imperfect best in this regard. I fall on my face and get back up to try and try again. In the Garden of Eden, so long as they obeyed Jehovah, Adam and Eve were worshiping him. No temple, no Mosaic Law, no meetings. Simply leave the tree of the knowledge of good and bad alone. Simple. The minute they disobeyed, they stopped worshiping Jehovah. Same with the nation of Israel. The minute they attempted to practice a syncretistic religion they stopped worshiping Jehovah. The minute they made the golden calf, they stopped. And on and on. To worship is to obey. To obey is to worship. Hannah J Paul

Could be an English dialect: that.
On the other hand it could be Low German (as spoken around Hamburg) - DAT macht man nicht - One doesn't do THAT.

Yeah, I'm with you. If typing an extra letter is such hard work, why don't they same themselves a whole lot more work and not type anything at all?

Textspeak is fine when you're texting, but we're not texting here, are we?
