Bearing in mind 30 odd people had access to this car.

Rather than dismissing it as ludicrous rubbish I think I would be down the police station demanding to know which of these 30 people could have killed my daughter because I had nothing to do with it.

It isn't impossible that one of their associates could have used this car to move the body and yet they seem too busy defending themselves to accept the evidence in the boot may be correct and someone close to them knows more than them.

When you say 30 odd people had access to the car, what do you mean? When they hired the car, i am sure that the insurance for the said vehicle would have just been for him and her, rather than anybody else, so if this is the case, why were the McCanns allowing these people to drive an uninsured car around.

Regarding your point about questioning their friends, they would have to be careful about upsetting them. The term house of cards springs to mind here. One crumbles, they all go.

This supposed dna evidence under the boot carpet is going to be quite damming for them.
Not even Perry Mason will get them off this one.
