For humanity to not destroy the earth, for people to not have to suffer, to end the need for wars, for the world to live in peace and harmony. Obviously this won't happen in our lifetime, but who is to say it is not possible for the future.

Possibility #1: We will transfer from Earth to another Earth-like planet.
Possibility #2: Population will be affected due to major natural catastrophes (Earthquake, Volcanic Eruption, etc.).
Possibility #3: Extinction from extreme impact of heavenly Bodies to the Earth (Asteroids, Meterorites, Space Radiation)
Possibility #4: Extinction from Global Warming
Possibility #5: Humans will be dominated by Machines
Possibility #6: The future may be the same as the Present
Possibility #7: Overpopulation

One of these 7 possibilities will happen.

that's a long way into the future we need to manage to advance our science significantly enough to aquire colonies on other planets and do that before we destroy this earth and all it's inhabitants - if we do do that we are almost assured to eventually get to "the greatest possible future for humanity" it will be when human understanding of the universe has expanded to encompass a far more inclusive cosmic understanding and acceptance of our nature.

Everything will be better!

Towards betterness is the direction of all evolution be it human or other! I know this with as much fervour as the religious 'know' God exists. If humanity will or will not be part of that betterness is another question - we are the masters of our own destiny on that one!

hope springs eternal that humanity is destined for greatness but neither you or I will be there to see it, we just get to plant the seeds of our future, and the most important ones to set in motion foster the prolonged existence of this planet until humans get off it in significant enough numbers to form those colonies I talked of.

humans react to their environment be it planetary or interstallar. A 'seed crystal' will come (if we survive Earth). and how can one predict what the crystal will look like looking at the water before the seed crystal - It will exceeed the limits of our present imaginations, quite possibly it will be outside of the universe itself.

our highest knowledge indicates that the universe is an intersection of strings of realities to be at your "greatest possible future for humanity" we will have to experience other strings which may not necessarily hold existence as a property or quality, how can we define that?

This age is described in ancient scriptures as Kaliyuga or the darkest times, a time when mankind is so wrapped up in his own ego, his own accomplishments and the material world that Godliness would diminish. As with all such times the Divine also has in place a contingency plan that is referred to in all religions. [That is the essence of true religions and not the multiple manmade remnants that are found in the world today]. Even in Christianity it appears to have been forgotten or overlooked that Christ Himself prayed to his Father that He should send another, namely The Comforter and Councillor who would teach us all things. So in our complete freedom we can choose to take no action with the direction of our lives and just continue to indulge in every decadent aspect current societies have adopted, or take to some wisdom and realise that our ancestors were not completely stupid and that there must have been some reason that they revered great saints and incarnations.

So while all appear to be consumed with ever increasing worries about global warming or the effects of drug taking, binge drinking, aids, house prices, water resources and the catalogue of modern services that have now taken on the appearance of what we would have called third world countries e.g. NHS and Railway services, there are thousands of people all over the Globe that are aware of the Incarnation promised by Christ.

The phenomenon is known as Sahaja Yoga and its founder Shri Mataji Nirmala Devi is The Incarnation of The Holy Ghost. There are thousands of lectures given by Shri Mataji that impart incredible knowledge and awareness about the Divine. The lectures also give explanations of all the teachings of other Incarnations and actualise the next step in the evolution of human beings beginning with the experience of Self Realisation leading to the state of Yoga. (Yoga is a state of being, not ritualistic exercise regimes or meaningless breathing exercises, and must be clearly felt on the aspirant’s central nervous system).

Of course as no money is taken for the experience (it is a living process) and no money can be made from the phenomenon, the media do not give any serious coverage.

Every major city in the world has been given the opportunity to hear a lecture, most in person at Shri Mataji’s own expense, or that of her disciples. We guess it’s a measure of people’s interests and past times if they miss the boat or the seed falls on stony ground or between the weeds!

I see that one of the possible spin offs or side effects of better education , poverty alleviation and prosperity for the poor , the world over will be less and less faith in religion and its dogma BUT a far greater faith in spirituality and fellowship with others on earth.

This agurs well for the world and its people. The greatest possible future for Humanity , in my opinion , is a coomon binding faith in conscious Living or what one can term as a Universal religion with no single God but a single creator.

But , the road is tough. No fanatic religious leader ( like the political leaders) will give in easily!

I'm pretty confident that humanity is the starting point, or one of the many steps along the road to something truly amazing.
My puny mind could never imagine what it is, but the singularity is near, and it is our destiny.

What is your measuring rod to conclude rubish answers? Are you already perfect? Read the Bible and discover yourself through self-realization. There is only one tested future truth through history, science, Bible and philosophy where truth is objective and man is only God's highest special creation created in His own image. The Bible is very much clear that there are only two future destiny for mankind. Those who are save to glorify God's grace and those who are not saved to glorify God's justice for He is a just God. If you have an ordered mind you might be destined to heaven's eternal bliss.

Total and exclusive annihilation.

The rest of the world would be better off without humans.... and humans would be better off without each other.

[Edit]: And so far your opinion is completely rubbish, but you don't see me complaining about it.
