Well said Calgary..btw..I'm from Calgary too..woohoo! NeWho..USA Junior??? Excuse me...but there are quite a few differences between Canada and the USA. Try telling people you are from the USA in another country and have someone else tell them you are from Canada and just see the reactions you get. As for the question that was stated, I lived in Japan as well and I am planning to return there for good. There are so many good things about Japan. I guess you would have to also determine what you find enjoyable about a country. From there you can weigh the pros and cons about each country until you decide which one you would prefer.

Like the other person said - this is TOTALLY SUBJECTIVE - it depends on what is BEST TO YOU!? What are you looking for? what is "best" for you? - There are pros and cons to both places...if you are looking for a job - Canada is better and easier to immigrate to and if you already speak English it will be a whole lot easier to live your life here...USA jr?!? don't know about that - culturally we are much closer to Australia in the west but in the east there is a more European influence - nothing like the USA...Canada is a more "extrovert-friendly" country about the complete opposite to Japan which is "introvert-friendly" - both countries have an abundance of beautiful scenery, people and great food - Japan has some unique arts, and cultural traditions that do not exist in Canada and vice versa...the other person said it : "they are both best" - it just depends on your perspective! ^^

I lived in each place for a long time.
Pros and cons to both...
But the goods on Japan.. onsen baths, cheaper ski lift tickets (by far), many places better powder snow too, beautiful girls, far superior public transit system, chicken on a stick (yaki tori), sushi and ramen available anywhere anytime, bars dont close at a set time, you can drink a casual beer in any public place and not have COPS wannabees in mountie gear taser the piss out of you (literally), electronic shops, 7/11's that are clean and actually have good bento's sometimes, as well as employees who work hard and dont just stand crosseyed behind the counter with hat on sideways, great cycle commuting systems for the daring, camping costs free to about $10 max.... ill stop there for now...

That's subjective. It totally depends on what you like. To me, as an American, Canada is USA Jr. ; similar culture, people, etc. Japan is foreign and mysterious. I second what someone else said about the beautiful women, interesting language, customs, etc. So, for me, I like Japan better.

Been to both and both are really good. I'd choose Japan. The best country to live in: beautiful women, great food, nice people, things to do -- gosh, the list is just too long.

Japan! I think it's much more scenic, and I love the Japanese culture. And think about it, if you're going to brag to your friends about how far you've been out of the country, I think you'd rather choose Japan.
Plus, they've got RAMEN!
...and pocky, and anime, and manga....and sushi!!
