As far as I know (not being very up on Aussie spiders), White-tails are solitary, like pretty much all wandering spiders. Very few spiders associate with others of their kind for more than a short time when they're very young or during the mating period. It's not surprising that you would see more than one in an area, though - many spiders have small (to us) territory sizes and if the living is good, they can tolerate competitors even better. Fall is also a time when you see spiders more often, as the adult males are wandering around looking for females.

yes i have been bitten and its really not as bad as what everyone makes it out to be, i was bitten on my neck while camping and luckily all that happend was i felt a bit sick and i had like a purple bruise on my neck which went away after about 2 weeks but other than that i was fine. they are not the most deadliest spider in the world thats just rubbish, daddy long legs spiders are the most venoumous spiders in australia but they cant bite becuase their fangs are to small to do anything. we have spiders here called funnell web spiders which are very dangerous and can kill if they bite and you dont get to a hospital quick. but they are only found in some parts of australia. there are worse things to worry then white tips.
