Speculations, based on unofficial leaks from the Portuguese police, are all the media have to go on. The only undisputed fact is Madeleine is missing. The rest are Unfounded and uncorroborated rumours (even neglect as we don’t know the exact check-up arrangements).

I agree there is still a possibility that the McCanns had something to do with her disappearance. But if they exonerate the McCanns, then everything we’ve heard so far is nothing but malicious lies and the Portuguese police should be sued for Negligence, Incompetence and Corruption and because of them Madeleine is still missing and possibly dead.

Your opinion?

All the evidence you come up with (DNA, Witness inconsistencies, Cadaver dogs, lying, bla…bla…bla) is unofficial and unsubstantiated…

justmebackagain15- I think the police do really think that Kate did it (based on a hunch), but since the investigation has been so poorly handled, they lied to break her down and get a confession out of her.

I seriously doubt the Portuguese police are lying unless the McCanns are bribing them to do it. I'm dead certain the McCanns are lying.

This week, top British criminal investigators have been to Praia da Luz to look at the Madeleine investigation, and they have said that the PJ have done a good job. They also said that abduction was 'unlikely' and that there were 'significant discrepancies' in the statements of the McCanns and their friends. These quotes have come straight from the criminal investigators themselves. I can't see why the PJ would lie and try and frame two people with so much media support, when they could so easily have framed Robert Murat, because the media and most of the public had already decided he was guilty. I see your point, but I just don't see a whole police force putting their reputations on the line to frame the parents of a missing child. Good question though.

Kate & Jerry are carrying around a tremendous amount of guilt due to the fact that if they didn't participate in Madeline's disappearance, they enabled it to happen due to their neglect. What I can't understand is that if the theory about her being snatched to order is to be believed, why wasn't the younger daughter taken? Also, if I were to leave my 3 kids alone, whilst I went out with friends, & one was snatched, i'd have my remaining children taken from me by Social Services. Despite their loss, the only ones that I feel any thing for are the children. If the parents did have something to do with this, directly or not, they are still to blame. They have even admitted that leaving the children alone was a regular occurrence whilst on holiday. Why on Earth, considering the amount of money they both earn, didn't they pay for the babysitting facility that was available to them through their hotel? Oh, & whilst we're at it, can anyone explain to me where the 3 children were, when Kate & Jerry regularly went for Sunday lunch in their local town of Rothely, Leicestershire? I am extremely surprised that this question hasn't been asked, & could explain a few things! & also, why is the Madeline fund, not set up as a charity? There are far too many questions for this to be a clear cut case!

All that I'm going to say is that if the McCanns killed Madeleine, it would have been done and her body transported right under the noses of the Portuguese police, so if they're guilty, and even if they aren't, I think the Portuguese police are incompetent beyond logical belief. They're there to solve crimes, not make a mess of all the evidence!

Personally......
I think that they are guilty. I formed this opinion when I first saw them make a televised appeal for the return of this poor child. In every other TV appeal I have seen the parents are so distraught, anguished and almost hysterical that you cannot help but feel for them. In this instance the parents appeared cold and clinically calculating and showed no signs of any anguish whatsoever. Any parent who has lost a child would be beside themselves with grief and bordering on hysteria.
My opinion - for what it is worth...... I believe that they sedated all their children in order to go out on the "razz". When they returned from their hedonistic pleasures they discovered the child has died as a result of the sedative. Probably in their shock and from some kind of mental breakdown at that point they then disposed of the child's body - maybe took it to some deserted area and dropped it down a disused well or crevasse and then invented the whole story about a kidnap. The Portugese police have bungled the whole investigation and now it is too late for events to be fully investigated. I think we shall never know what happened to this poor child. May she rest in peace and perhaps one day the proper story will come to light and justice will be done.

You have two opposing sides, maybe neither is lying, but reading things into the others actions and behavior that isn't there.
No one knows what happened to Madeleine. The parents are under suspicion. The police are concentrating on the parents.
Who want the police to concentrate elsewhere.
It's not necessarily downright lies, but more of a battle of wills between two groups who actually, haven't got a clue what happened that night.

Oh my god....who cares!....All this speculation is not getting poor little Madeline found is it.

Every day someone new voices there opinion on this case but if all of you got together and started looking for her she would probably be found now.

My view is if the parents are stupid for leaving the children alone in the apartment but I dont for one second think they killed her. The Portugese police are just completely useless and have no clue what has happened and are pointing the finger at the parents to take the pressure off of them.

We will find out one day what has happened and I hope the outcome is Madeline is found safe and well.

I think BOTH sides are lying like Ananias! It is a sad fact that as well as Madeleine, truth has become a casualty in this rather nasty "battle" to prove a version of events. Score a point at ANY cost.

whatever the outcome there is still a few unavoidable facts -

1 - a child is missing. whoever was responsible it wont bring her back.
2 - while you would not wish it on anyone, and it is a horrible outcome, WTF were they doing leaving children unwatched. they were on holiday, take the kids with you, it's their holiday as well........

i hope they had nothing to do with it, but I cannot say either way I dont know the facts.
i hope she is found well and unharmed, but I'm not holding my breath.
if she is and they are exonorated, then yes the portuguese police should be brought to task.

The police can only go on what they know - the McCanns have consistently changed their story, had parts of their 'excuses' proved wrong. McC's have played the press and used their 'we're hard done by' blog as a good weapon to deviate from the facts and remove the centre of attention from themselves.

As I always say - it will come out BUT - let us not forget - they are to blame - they left their kids alone (by their own admission) - work it out - it is called responsibility, of which they have shown none and shown little or no remorse.
