All the friends of my daughter think I'm the coolest mom on earth. Maybe its because I'm climbing trees with them, watch movies with them, etc. My daughter thinks I'm an embarrassment, maybe its because I'm climbing trees with the kids etc. :)

Your children will always look up to you as a parent and one who will "never understand" the problems they have. The best way to be a parent, is be their parent and their friend, let them trust you, however, know they won't tell you everything in their life, and will think your punishments are meant to hurt them, and their social life. where you know you are diciplining them. When they get older, then they will understand the things you've told them, and eventually they will have their own children who believe their problems are the worst in the world, it's an endless cycle..

Up until my son was 15 it was cool to hang out with dad. And do things with him. But after that age it was like the door slamming shut. And now he is 24 and it is still uncool to hang out with dad or go out for a father and son dinner. It's like aw dad what if my friends see me? I say uh they think a father and son are having dinner together?
