I can't understand WHY people feel the need to have guns.Do you think it's video games and films glamorizing the use of guns is to blame?

its not guns that kill its people, the government thought that banning hand guns and placing restrictions on other firearms would solve the problem , well........ surprise it hasn't and everyone who wants firearms banned should take a look at where most of these illegal guns are coming from, eastern Europe that's where, most are smuggled into the country and some are converted from replicas and DE activated weapons there was never a problem years ago when you could own most firearms, its only in the last 5/10 years that the problem has arisen and I think opening our doors to all of Europe has contributed to the problem, seems strange that we never had this much trouble until gangs from eastern Europe arrived, people who obey the law and own firearms should not be penalised because of some **** that chooses to break it, if your caught with an illegal firearm then you should get life its as simple as that not a slap on the wrist and a few years in the nick, and that goes for minors as well if they think they are men by brandishing a firearm they should expect to be dealt with in the same way

Additional info

I don’t think video games or films has had anything to do with it they have been about along time and it was never like this, you can blame the government
(a) for banning/restricting them in the first place this only made things worse by guns going underground and the black market
(b) for not having tighter controls on immigration
(c) for not getting a grip of this gang culture America has tough gang laws we don’t
(d) for stupid sentences handed down to criminals caught with firearms make it a mandatory life sentence and things might change.

The one from the other day, in Plumstead SE London is literally 2 mins walk from my house, I felt sick when I found out, I don't leave my house after dark anymore because it's too dangerous around here now.
These kids are getting guns from more hardened criminals in the area, they seem to 'look up to them' because they have status amongst other criminals and the kids want the same status so go around shooting people to look cool, it is so shocking to think that some teenagers think killing people is cool! where on earth do they get this sick indifferent attitude to human life? I know the 'blame it on the parents' argument sounds like a broken record, but what kind of family life allows a child to grow up with such an attitude to society and other human beings?
I can only assume that these are children who have been brought up in the system, and have had no experience of real family, love and support and DISCIPLINE.
I don't want to believe there are parents out there who can let their children grow up with such disrespect for everything and everyone around them, but that's the true reality of it isn't it?

A great many guns are arriving in the UK with our friends from what was Eastern Europe.Anyone who as worked a pub or club door recently will tell you that anyone with an accent which sounds Polish,Russian etc.should be frisked on entry because it is part of their culture to carry a weapon.

well mainly either there parents have one, or you can find the right people in bars clubs, even on the side of the road, if you want something you can get it, or they just ask a friend to buy them one, some people even make them i heard a story once where a kid made a gun, its quite easy and there are sites on how to do it, lol THE WORLDS GOING NUTS ffs,

There cannot be a kid shot in the UK. Remember the British Leftists banned guns; so any law abiding citizen who gets shot but does not have the means to defend themselves are merely imagining their wounds.

Guns are available because people want them. If any product is desired; someone will rise up to provide it whether it is illegal or not. Prohibition never works and never will.

The better solution to the violence would be to allow law abiding citizens to carry firearms. It has reduced crime in the United States.

The UK is proving the point of the old bumper sticker "If you outlaw guns only outlaws will have them". I guess the British are getting that little lesson driven home to them

Gang culture and the media glamourising guns are the main reason for the increase in guns being used.
