Why do we exist is a question that can only be asked of our Creator.

We cannot create our own purpose because we didn't create ourselves.

Reproduction, add to gene pool, living, dying, etc. are not purposes for which we exist. Those things are natural processes and natural processes cannot give purpose. Evolution by itself cannot give us purpose.

If there is no God, there is no purpose for our lives and our lives are worthless because things that have no purpose have no worth.

But if God exists, our purpose has to be to seek Him for in finding God, we find the love of our Creator, which gives worth to our lives.

80% of humanity, the religious folks, don't need to ask the meaning of life, the church tells them....the supernatural explanation. But the rest of us can't swallow religious dogma, because there's no evidence. Nobody can prove that there life after death, that people are tortured or rewarded after life or that there's invisible spirits running around.

I've come to two conclusions recently:

1. Life has no meaning
2. Life has a million meanings.

First, there's a certainty that death and annihilation awaits not only you, but the Earth in general. It's an astonomical certainty that our sun will supernova and leave the earth a burnt crisp, not to mention all the other extinction level events around the corner.

Second, the million things that give us meaning are the pleasurable experiences we can conjure up during the short period we are here on the earth, in the form of the relationships we have with our kids and other people, and the 'housekeeping' types of purposes. What i mean by that are the curing disease, ending hunger, improving literacy, reducing crime, preventing war, helping other kinds of things.

So the bottom line is, we only have a temporary meaning to life, to reduce pain and increase pleasure, other than that everything is lost to oblivion.

To be or not to be? "To be" is temporary and "not to be" is inevitable.....

We are all here to help each other. You have a special
talent and you need to figure out what it is. You may be
able to use this talent to directly help people or you may
be able to create something which will help mankind.
You will be given the strength and opportunity to put this
talent to use. The rest is up to you.

Didn't I just answer this question?
The meaning of life is to find the meaning of life. You have to find your own. And it won't be the same as anyone elses. It's one of the things that make each of us unique, and all of us the same.

No body can answer that......no body has shown any proof of a purpose.
We exist for a reason .......do you believe in what you see?.....out there in space, all those stars/planets.
We are chemicals and atoms.
We are simply here!

[Or maybe an alien civilisation's reality TV show.]
My heart tells me there's something grander beyond. But what?

Read the Bible for that.

but frankly we are here for a reason and that is to use our mind for the maximum and also prove ourselves worthy for God to accept us to his kingdom.
