Why did the Democratic Party embrace socialist ideals?
By the way, Republicans are true patriotic Americans who believe in personal accountability and a free market capitalist, Republican system of government.

When they were taken over by far-left Trotskyites calling themselves "Neo-Conservatives." Of course, the right has been pro-war since the 1950s (and therefore anti-liberty), but it only adopted Neo-Conservatism more recently. The Buckleyite views of the right back in the 50s, 60s, and 70s, and during the Reagan administration at least believed in dismantling the totalitarian bureaucracy once the Soviet Union was defeated.
The Republican Party has not been a friend of liberty since the liberal Rockefeller Republican Dwight D. Eisenhower stole the nomination from Sen. Robert Taft in 1952. From the rise of FDR (who actually was a fascist, as were the Tories who ruled England at the time, but neither ever went much further than mid-30s fascism, whereas Hitler and Mussolini went all the way; Ironically, FDR, Churchill, Mussolini, Hitler, and Stalin were very good friends in the early to mid 30s) until 52, the Republican Party was a party that stood for restoring freedom to America (each and every true Republican at the time wanted to repeal the New Deal; many went further and wanted to get rid of the "New Freedom" of Woodrow Wilson and a few wanted to repeal the Judiciary Act and even possibly reinstate the Articles of Confederation and of course, there were the Tory Anarchists who wanted to get rid of all government).

Bush, Cheney, and Addington have done more to push executive power of the president and defy the built in oversight and dissension that the federal government is based on. When congress wants to due its duty of oversight, Bush and Cheney cry that this would be a constitutional violation of their executive privilege, and stone wall them. When Congress passes legislation that Bush and Cheney don't like, they repeatedly use signing statements to declare in simplest terms that Congressional law doesn't apply to them. Bush and Cheney are in fact pushing for a fascist regime and a dictatorship instead of a democracy. Its not socialist, its dictatorial and fascist (because they have sacrificed civil liberties for the American people's so called "Own good"). Never in history has a president or vice president pushed the executive power and authority of those offices against Congress and the House of Representatives more. These men are a product of the Republican party, so blame them, but even much of the Republican party in government now cannot fully agree with the excesses and abuses of power that Bush and Cheney have undertaken. These men need to be removed from office, and not just because a new president is elected...these men deserve no less than impeachement. And if Congress can ever grow a spine and get access to the documents that Bush and Cheney have been deliberately denying them, it will very likely come to light that these men deserve criminal charges levied against them.

Nazi is short for "National Socialist Workers Party of Germany". I think the word "Socialist" appears in there somewhere.
Are you fing kidding me that Liberals don't even know what "Nazi" stands for? What lying history revisionists. Here's the link, historically illiterate smelly things:

Cheney and David Addington have been quietly staging a fascist structured government ever since Bush stole the first election in 2000. Its about their wishes to create an imperial executive branch that has supreme ungovernable authority.
You will note most of the decisions are made from the VPs office or that of the council of the office of the VP.
Why? The usual reasons : power and greed.
