That's a rather simplistic question the answer to which would have to be No,of course not.

However,the State of Israel does seem to have tapped in to a mind set now prevalent among many of the neoconservative ideologues who are responsible for shaping U.S. foreign policy. Basically it is now considered heresy or antisemitism or both to suggest that the U.S. should be pursuing its own foreign policy and not Israel's.

To this extent,it can be argued that Israel has the U.S. government by the short hairs. The War in Iraq,for example,was a prime objective of the Israeli state long before 9/11. The only country that has reaped any benefit, short or long term, from this war has been Israel. One could say, therefore, that the most powerful army in the world(OURS!) is fighting Israel's war for them ,while Israel hasn't fired a shot or lost a soldier.

Meanwhile, Israel keeps getting billions in arms and aid from us and uses them to further alienate Arabs and Muslims . We can not pursue a policy towards the Islamic world independently of Israel's interests! The U.S. is ham-strung on this vital issue.
