What is Squared Compatibility?

In Wikipedia, under each of the 12 signs of the zodiac, it has a section where it mentions signs that are compatible with other signs. They have either compatibility, possible compatibility, incompatibility, squared compatibility or opposite compatibility. What does "squared compatibility" mean, and regarding "opposite compatibility", is it any better or worse than incompatibility? After all, aren't opposites supposed to attract? I don't want any BS answers from people who don't know what the heck they're talking about. But if you know astrology and understand what these terms mean, I'd love to hear from you. Thanks.

First of all, you have to picture the 12 zodiac signs in a wheel position, beginning with Aries (House of Initiation) and ending with Pisces (House of Death). The order is as follows: Aries, Taurus, Gemini, Cancer, Leo, Virgo, Libra, Scorpio, Saggitarius, Capricorn, Aquarius and Pisces.

The 12 signs are further divided into 4 elements:
Fire - Aries, Leo, Saggitarius
Earth - Taurus, Virgo, Capricorn
Air - Gemini, Libra, Aquarius
Water - Cancer, Scorpio, Pisces

Each member in the family goes well with the others naturally and form a 'trine' on the zodiac wheel (120 apart from one another). e.g. Aries trines Leo and Taurus trines Virgo.
In addition, they also form a 'sextile' (60 degrees apart) from those in a complementary element e.g. Fire complements Air (just think of combustion) and Aries sextiles Gemini and Aquarius.

The 'Square' you mention is made up of signs at a right angle to each other (90 degrees apart) and indicate inharmonious energies or much indifferences in temperament between the 2 signs, which are not easy to transcend.

Every Fire sign 'squares' a Water and Earth sign: Aries squares Capricorn & Cancer, Leo squares Taurus and Scorpio, Sagittarius squares Virgo and Pisces. Likewise, every Air sign squares a Water and Earth sign: Gemini squares Pisces and Virgo, Libra squares Cancer and Capricorn, Aquarius squares Scorpio and Taurus. These are known as the 'squared incompatibility' between natal sun signs.

Pertaining to Opposite incomptaibility, every sign has one that is 180 degrees away from it. Aries is opposite Libra, Taurus opposite Scorpio and so on. The theory behind opposites is that what we attarct, we also repel as we are actually missing that quality that the other party has but it is not easy to reconcile such differences between us. Hence, people either say you love or hate your opposite sign - there is just no in-between! Hope that helps!

Don't let Astrology prejudice you in who use relate to. It should be used to help with relationships, not eliminate possibilities ahead of time. Most compatibility factors are not determined by Astrology. You may believe a lot in traditional Astrology. I am not a traditional Astrologer. I believe Astrology is best used as a spiritual tuning device into oneself and others. Nothing on a chart is bad or good in itself, what counts is how well one can utilize what you have to work with.

Of course, oppositions always oppose things, and so they are incompatible. Do not try to interlock a square!
