The spread is low because it's in Piscataway and Rutgers is still a very good team.
And they will win tonight.

First it is University of SOUTH FLORIDA not southern....
OK my Avatar (which I have had) gives a bit away but... the spread is low because Rutgers beat us last year here in tampa.... and the relative lack of awareness of the South Florida program in general before 4 weeks ago makes many believe that they are a flash in the pan.
USF (how we like to be reffered to because we arent really in South Florida) is a great team that has gotten better each week.... the defense is outstanding and deserves alot of the recognition. George Selvie is leading the nation in sacks and tackles for a loss and the are a take- away defense... if the offense had been at the point they are now, earlier in the season we would have won by huge spreads in each game except the lack of effort in Elon and FAU games....
USF v Auburn 26-23 @auburn.... 2-6 FG attempts....there is 12 pts..
3-17 3rd down..... -- Offense playing much better now.
USF v W Virginia 24-19 @ USF....turnovers all over the place but a complete shutdown of former heisman candidates Steve Slaton and Pat White....
7-14 3rd downs -- getting better
USF v UCF 64-12 @USF (Last game).... hey UCF almost knocked off Texas.... another underrated team that will be damn good soon!
Tonight..... USF by at least 7.... Selvie gets at least one forced fumble Groethe has a big game in national spotlight....
U of Cincinnati game is the one to watch! that could be a barnburner!
fmagellan74 dont know what stats you are looking at!!!!!!
........43 yds rushing is shutting down Slaton in my book... breaking his over 100 yd game streak.
....... Pat White had 17 yds rushing.....
----OK ....White passed for 170 yds.... but he also threw 2 ints and had to throw the whole second half because they were playing from behind.... that is a shutdown of their Heisman status....

Rutgers beat them last year and a lot hasn't changed. They still haven't impressed me though. I agree that a team ranked 2nd or 3rd should be favored by much more against an unranked team.
EDIT: Well USF fans would you like some gravy to go on all that Rice? Rutgers - 30 USF - 27.

USF has been tested on the road vs. Auburn and beat them in a hostile environment. Plus why does anyone think that Rutgers can beat USF? They haven't beaten anyone and the two real games they played, and lost, the defense gave up well over 400 yards per game in those. USF will win again tonight.

Im going to the Konica Minolta Gator between Clemson and Nebraska, which should be decent but the San Diego County Credit Union Poinsettia Bowl between TCU and Boise State will be the best of the year, 10-2 vs. 12-0. I believe TCU held Oklahoma to a season low 35 points and should have beat Utah, and Boise can beat you almost any way possible, with defense, passing, rushing this game will be great!

Be wary of this trap game. Rutgers is good enough to beat SF, for sure. More importantly, they are at home. All SF's big wins have come at home. They haven't had to play tough team in a hostile environment, and are untested in this fashion. The game is very different on the road.
Rutgers is well coached and will be primed for victory. They've played in games like this before and won, and with SF's ranking will be very motivated to knock them off. I wouldn't touch this game as a gambler at all.

It just goes to show how little the polls are trusted. WIth so many teams over ranked you never can truely tell if who is the favorite. USF has a pretty solid football team but is new to success and I think that the game will be closer than many people think, 3 points may be a fairly resonable quess

the spread is low because Rutgers beat us last year here in tampa and tonights game is @ Piscataway .... plus the fast rise through the rankings make many believe that we are overrated. UCF fans last saturday belived USF may have been overrated until we humiliated them 64-12 @ ray james stadium. go figure.
GO BULLS!!!

I hope Rutgers beats the crap out of them so we can quit all the stupid talk about a school that makes a name for themselves by playing with other teams players who couldn't make the grades.
