I have been having this problem for the last 2 days, Yesterday, it took me till 4:45 AM to fall asleep. I have tried watching tv and lying in bed with my eyes closed. Nothing has seemed to help and I just seem to lye hopeless. I have to wake up at 7:30 AM and I haven't gotten any sleep yet. I tried warm milk and there is no success. IS it dangerous if I lose a night's sleep (yesterday I slept 6 hours). Thanks

I forgot to mention that I take Paxil 12.5 MG every morning. I have been on it for the last 3 weeks. Is it possible this could be effecting my seep

No, its not dangerous - I lived on 2-3 hours of sleep for two years.

Try this:

Picture yourself in space - you can't smell anything or hear anything all you can see is black with tiny dots of light. Now start counting back from 100 and for each 10 your eyes get more heavy and your body relaxes more.

Hope this helps - it works for me. It has to be space b/c if its a forest or beach then I see something and wonder what it is - in space there is nothing for hundreds of miles.

hi there is no problem. you are in good condition. Sometimes our mind is get disturbed with so many things. So first you have to relax ur mind by giving plenty of rest. Then automatically you can get a good sleep. Dont think anything just u close ur eyes concentrate on middle of the eyes. then u can see a light there in dark. Now ur mind is going to be relax. Exercises also very good for body. Once you do it your body will feel strain. Then u can get a good sleep. six hours sleep is enough to our body. nothing is wrong there. Once u try you should sleep 9.00p.m at nights and wake up early in the mornings. Because when u wake up in early hours ur mind will be cool and fresh. If u wake up late in the morning ur mind will became very dull and lazy. U cant get a good sleep at nights.

It should not hurt you at all to lose a nights sleep. And yes your medication may be causing your problem. If you can't sleep try getting up and doing things around the house, reading, surfing the net and so on. If you worry about not sleeping you won't sleep. You can also check your local pharmacy for natural sleep aids. My son who takes medication for ADHD would be up until the wee hours of the morning and the doctor advised me to get melitonian ( not sure of spelling on that) I give him up to 5 tablets and he sleeps great and wakes up in a good mood. Even if you don't sleep however you do want to at least lay down for a couple of hours to allow your body to rest.

If possible try to relax your mind, there are few free programs out there for you to practice mental relaxation. It helps me lot till now. normally we can't sleep because mind starts to wander.

Try exercising before you go to bed cause your body will be exhausted and you will fall asleep more easily.
