Hi f0r0thers,

We did a lot of testing and still have ongoing life tests to determine the best brands of DVDs for our business.

We found the best for reliable burns was Verbatim. A close second was Sony, Imation was in the middle. Far and away the worst was Memorex. We had more failed burns with Memorex then all others combined.

Now after only three years of storage some of the Memorex are failing to read. So far Memorex is the only brand failing in storage.

The +R and -R did not have an effect on reliability.

My personal experience has led me towards using the +R. It is slightly better at error handling so more tolerant of dirty or damaged media and also more tolerant to the subtle differences between players. The downside is some (usually pre 2004) machines may not read a +R DVD.

Tayio Yuden are the best I know of. A little pricey, but they're tops!

Wait a minute, why is the discussion about Imation and Memorex, those are sub-brand names, and most sub-brand names of any reputation utilize three major brands of media, of which Tayio Yuden are widely considered to be the best.

Just do a little research and the answers to your question will be clear. Don't just take the word of someone who claims that "We did a lot of testing...". There are legitimate studies already documented to provide this answer, which support what I have already listed.

Please take a look at the third link which I have added.

Wish I knew...Lately it doesn't matter which ones I use. They all seem to skip easily or don't record at all. Maybe quality is less important than quantity to manufacturers these days?
TO NORM: Thanx for the help!
