LittleMiss;
Cisco (CSCO), Mircosoft (MSFT), AT&T (A), Ford (F) General Motors (GM), Citibank (C), General Electric(GE) are all good text book favourites for US companies.
Best place to look is Yahoo!Fiannce http://finance.yahoo.com/
They give a break down of the stocks key performance indicators and you can read company info, balance sheets, income statements, executive bio's etc.
Or if you want international comapnies, some of the UK big names are Tesco (supermarket chain), HSBC (International bank), BP (British Petroleum), BT (British Telecom - national carrier like AT&T or Sprint) or GlaxoSmithKline (Chemicals and Pharacueticals)
Not sure what the main subject matter is, but you may want to compare your stock against movements in the key indicies like the NASDAQ, Dow Jones or FTSE100.
