It sure feels good doesn't it!
The human ego feels the fear of being consumed by death and oblivion....annihilation. We want to make our mark on the world to give us a sense of eternity.
People usually experience mixed feelings about themselves. At a deep level, many people believe they are "bad", stupid, and incompetent. Talent will negate these feelings to some degree. Look at the high rate of substance abuse, depression, and suicide amongst famous creative people.
At another level, have you ever watched a male bird do a dance for a female? Its really funny! They want a treat for their creative display!!!!

Pride. People have grown when they can do things for people in secret or need no recognition.
