I am suprised that you are LETTING your husbands grandfather name YOUR child. I wouldn't give him that much power. I don't think he should have a say in this. Tell him, thanks for the ideas... "we will keep them in mind. We are considering a few names and one of them is your idea.
Then if you want to- just forget what he said and choose your own babies name.
Thomas Thompson is a very weird name! If you name him that I don't think he will every forgive you for that.
It is your & your husbands job to name the baby.
There are other names to get that initails TNT
Tray Neil
Tyler Norton
Trent Nathenial
Taylor Neil
Timothy Nathan
Ted or Teddy Noeln
Trever Nolen
Please choose your child's name. You husband's grandfather won't be around forever. And your child will be around for a long time.

I like Thomas Nathan... however I'm not sure about Thomas Thompson - bit of a mouthful.
There's not many boys names beginning with N to be honest!
Nicholas
Noel
Nate
Nathaniel (longer version of Nathan)
I think its nice that your husbands grandfather is naming him =]

Thomas Thompson??? Yikes!
You are nice for letting your father in law name your baby but I seriously think you should go for a different first name. Though I suppose you could always call him Tom-Tom, the world could always use another crazy nickname.
Sorry to rain on your parade, but there are lots of other boys names starting with "T" if you are absolutely deperate to have "TNT"

Thomas Thompson? Tom Thompson? Tommy Thompson?
WHY do people do this?
Nathan's fine. Look for a different first name though, for your son's sake.

You could go for Nicholas, but I must say that Nathan is a pretty decent name. Good old testament prophet that told king David not to sleep around. Plus with Nicholas, you get teased abotu being Saint Nick, or Nickle-ace, or Nicole..
