No, I don't believe so. Central Sydney is a very multicultural area. There are many Asians, Middle Easterners etc with Muslim background around Sydney so you would certainly not be an oddity. Walking around in the CBD with the headscarf, nobody will give you a second glance. In country towns you will probably be outright stared at and more likely to encounter racism there. With your job you may be required to loosen your headscarf slightly so your cheekbones are visible for an ID, or wear plain colours to go with your uniform, but that is it. You may receive questions about your beliefs, as Islam is new to Australia; but this is to often just to promote understanding, so do not assume it is for ridicule. I would recommend against wearing the covering from head to toe as many Australians find this very unnerving.
Sydney is a great place to be, and I hope you consider your job offer. I have seen a few women in head scarves working as professionals before.

There are racists in Sydney just as there are everywhere else but the vast majority of Sydney people are happy with multiculturalism. One problem is that the present Government has encouraged the view that Muslims are resposible for all the problems of the world and that they are all terrorists. Fortunately, the Government only has five weeks left before it is kicked out. After that things should be a lot easier. You will find a few nasty individuals in Sydney as you will anywhere but in the main you should have few problems. I hope you have a great time, Sydney is a lovely city.

Professionally, there should not be any problem. Of course, racist jerks will most certainly reside nearby, as they do everywhere. I found Australia to be slightly more racist than America, for the most part. However, Sydney is a very metropolitan city with a variety of people; you should encounter less of it there.
Why don't you take a trip and see how you feel? I'm sure it's not a short nor inexpensive trip, but if you're considering moving your entire life there, I'd think you'd want to check it out first.

come on sweety. We are the mongrel country. We are all multi-culty. I personally would walk up, give you a hug, and the grand tour. Can't gaurantee that you won't get a little racism, but we aren't like the Americans (no offence intended to the non-racists Americans). But you should be accepted by the majority of the community. Wish you luck in your life journey. lol, it might be a bit costy though if you plan to make the pilgramige to Mecca in the future

I think all women are beautiful, why you must cover up your head and body for your insecure, primative and controling husbands is sad.
I feel so sorry for muslim women all over the world.
