it depends on the speed of the person who is running.
if he is running at 60miles per hour. he can run a mile in 1 minute.
30 miles per hour = 2 minutes
15 mph = 4 minutes
5 mph = 12 minutes
just find out the speed and divide it by 60.

Most of the above answers are not helpful or incorrect. I've been running for 35 years and have lots of experience.
In general, men run faster than women and the young run faster than the elderly.
The average jogger runs a mile in 8-10 minutes.
The average long distance runner runs a mile in 7-8 minutes.
The average long distance racer runs a mile in 6-7 minutes
the average short distance racer runs a mile in 5-6 minutes.
Roger Bannister was the first to break 4 minutes for the mile in 1954. Since , then at least 18 runners have run faster. The latest record I've seen is a 3:43 run by Hicham El Guerrij from Morocco in 1999.

to the person above...are you serious?? i have yet to see ANYONE run at any of those speeds EVER stop trying to act smart and make people feel ignorant.
unfortunately..hes right, it does depend on speed, however, most people walk at about 4 mph so a mile takes 15 minutes, the average jogging speed is about 6-7mph so thats 9-10 minutes and a flat out run is usually around 8-10 mph so 6-7 minutes...
