Depends on the relative size or power of each.

A typical PC draws 100-150 watts when on, and a few when off.

A typical stereo you play in your home is probably about 75-125 watts, and most will consume that much even when no sound is coming out. But one capable of blasting the roof off will use more.

Check the TV label. A tube type might user 150-400 watts, a 50-inch LCD is proably under 200, and a 50-inch plasma takes nearly 500.

For under $50 you can buy a wattmeter to test your appliances, if you are serious about saving energy. The big users are electric heat, then any big motors like pool pumps, then your fridge and freezer.

A desktop PC is about the same as a 25" TV. The larger screen TV's take more.

Those three are pretty much equal, at most, a few hundred watts. A toaster, heater, or hair dryer, on the other hand, typically consumes 1500 watts.

To the f**king know-it-all who is giving the thumbs down: what is your "expert" opinion?

I heard having appliances plugged into the wall eats up electricity...shutting off your computer eats up electricity too...I usually put mine on stand-by.
