What's enough?

Think philosophically: I'm intentionally leaving it open-ended.
Thoughtful answers plz.

Enough means achieving minimum level of satisfaction in a certain thing.

Let me give you an example: If your body needs minimum 2 litres of water per day, when you have drunk 2 litres of water in a certain day, it is considered enough. Your body does not need additional water. So, if you drink 3 litres of water a day, your body will reject the additional litre of that water.

The standard of 'enough' oftentimes very unclear. 'Enough' amount for Andy does not necessarily 'enough' for Brenda. The one who knows better of course Andy and Brenda respectively.

The problem is, sometimes we don't know our 'enough', so we use our 'want' as measurement of 'enough', while we should use our 'need' instead. This is the cause of greed and it may affect our world adversely.

For me, enough is breathing, because regardless of whether or not the future holds good or bad, I'm content just being alive. I suppose "enough" is different for every living thing, it all depends on your perspective. For instance, "enough" for a homeless person is very different from, per say, a millionaire. Or, enough could be different between a person who believes in a religion rather than someone who does not, if you're speaking about what will be "enough" after death. Enough is handed out and differentiates throughout people's lives, I suppose.

Enough means that what you did was quite right and that you couldn't do more or don't want to exert more effort to make it the best. It gives you a moderate level of satisfaction. You could have done much better and give your best but doing "enough" is like doing satisfactory at something.

Enough.

Rabbi says to an old woman, "You're 94 years old, you've been married to your husband for 75 years! Why do you now want to get a divorce?"

The woman replies, "Enough... is enough!"

'Enough' is when you are satisfied with what you have done and/or the amount of it that you've done.
But note that this doesn't imply that what you've done is 'good' or anything that's positive. It's just 'enough' for you ☺
