What's so great about being popular? Who needs to be talked to by many people to feel good? This being such a dire goal in kids minds leads me to believe we are weak minded, ignorant garbage.

At the core of seeking popularity lies acceptance, recognition and appreciation which all humans desire though in varying degrees and measures.Leave kids out as they mostly copy others but even in adults, the need is always there. It doesn't in any manner reflect upon the mental strength or weakness or even ignorance but is there all the same.Nothing seriously wrong with it unless it crosses acceptable limits and become obsessive.

Everyones popular. Duh, get your head out of your @$$ and quit thinking about what other people think of you. Sorry if I'm a little straight forward but honestly, who cares?
