you were not very clear, is it yours or your partners family. Either way, family want to see both members of the relationship happy, but if you have problems and you talk to them about it, they will see this as an automatic right to step into your relationship. As problems are a natural part of any relationship, even good ones, it is best to talk to someone neutral rather than family because it oftens taints your family's view of your partner.
