It didn't seem like it was real. Probably just someone trying to make a youtube video that get lots of hits. However, still a bad idea to pick up hitchhikers.

I've been hearing that Urban Legend for years. In the service I was sitting around with guys from all over the country. We started telling ghost stories. After awhile I realized we were all pretty much telling the same story you just did. With a little variation and local color from different areas.

I use to pick up hitchhikers then one night I picked up this guy. And I swear to god he was like from outer space, maybe a real alien. I went about a mile and told him this is where I had to turn and let him out. I drove about 3 mile out of my way just to make sure I'd never see him again. Never picked up anyone again. Super freaky, never again. It's the live ones you have to worry about!

I sincerely believe that it is all balderdash and too much of the drugs.

Regardless of all this hearsay and videos and so forth, things that are not scientifically-based have produced nothing material; while proven science has given you all this nifty technology that you are using right now. Do not waste your precious brain power on nonsense.

On the other hand, remember to have fun!

It would be easy peasy to recreate that video. Based on the vid alone, I'd say it's a load of garbage. Unless you can find actual copies of police reports, death certificates, news paper clippings, etc; I'm not going to believe that it genuinely happened.

What do I think? I think you have provided us with a synopsis of a fictional narrative. *If* the video was made it was dramatic, not documentary.

How often do people videotape themselves driving around anyway?
