There is no "Why".
It formed this way, and we are on it. All the planets are different. The Earth, being at this distance from the Sun, and having a single large moon, gave it both the stability and dynamics for life to form. There is much debate as to whether, given the same conditions and enough time, life is inevitable, in which case, life may be common in the Universe. Or if, even under these conditions, it was just luck that life began, in which case life is either very rare, or exclusive to Earth.
As a previous answer said, the Moon induces tides, tectonics induce land movement, volcanism etc, all of which are conducive to the formation and development of life.

think about it. despite the vast range of extreme temperatures could easily kill most living things; Earth has a small range (air wise). the Earth as big and strong as it may look, Earth is delicate. Ranging in the atmosphere maybe 136F - -80C(Antartica) most of the Earth is livable. Oceans have a certain tide (by the moon) to keep it fresh and hurricanes to stir it up to keep oxygen in it for marine life. Plat techtonics to keep the land fresh. (old land subduces new land rises either by converging or volcanic activity.

If you want to see a planet made in another way look at the planets in out solar system. Earth's cycle is just enough to provide life.

Humans can only live on this earth. If it was made larger or smaller, or had a different temperature range, or a different atmosphere, we couldn't live here. So it had to be made as it is, otherwise we would not be here.

I guess it could all be traced back to the dynamics that were set in motion by the Big Bang. Perhaps if that had gone differently, then things would have evolved differently. It also has to be considered that Earth's special placement from the Sun is advantageous.
