well im writing an essay right now about how my mom is the most important person in my life. im having a little trouble making my introduction better. my teacher said it should be at least 5-8 sentences but i only have 3 sentences. my whole essay is basically based on her personality and characteristics, so i put shes hardworking, caring, and understanding mother. but i dont know what else to write about...
please help me!

An introduction needs to grab the reader's attention. Maybe tell a story that made you really look up to your mom or when you realized she was so special to you. Maybe a saying that she always tells you when you need advice! Making it personally will give your intro a special touch!

Is your essay only 1 paragraph? If so, I'd go with what Frosty said. But if its 3+ paragraphs, the introduction [1st paragraph] should usually be an introduction of your mom and her life so far. Then, you should write about her personality and characteristics and maybe about why she's the way she is today in the body of the paragraph, which is usually the 2nd [and 3rd] paragraph of a multi-paragraph essay. Then, finally, wrap it all up in a conclusion paragraph!
DON'T FORGET UR TOPIC SENTENCE AND A CONCLUSION...ALSO, TRANSITIONS IN BETWEEN PARAGRAPHS IF NEEDED!

Expand on each of those ideas. WHY is she hardworking? WHY is she caring? WHY is she understanding? Does she work hard to keep a roof over your head or because she works to give you extras? How does she care? What does she do that is special? She cooks for you, she makes sure you have clean clothes, she goes to the market for food, etc. How is she special at understanding?
